CLUB BUSINESS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Carol re-introduced Beth Lab who is a 1st grade teacher at Del Mar Elementary.  President Carol has decided that instead of speaker gifts, each speaker will be asked to sign a book and that book will be given to the class.  President Carol has arranged with Coalesce to have a “book registry” for members to purchase books if they are interested.  Very exciting.

Dan Costly reminded us that Evening at Heart is coming up and planning meetings will commence soon.

Jamie Boucher reminded us that Project Surf Camp is this weekend, July 18th.  She also reminded us about volunteer sign-up for the Avocado/Margarita Festival.

Andrea (yours truly) reminded members to sign-up for the fishing trip and Fish Fry.  She also announced that there were still several spots remaining for advertising on the Fish Fry placemats.

PROGRAM
Brazil – we were treated to a wonderful program today which was set to a catchy tune that had a number of members dancing in their seats.  President Carol had slides from her pre-Conference time in Rio and then had a number of slides of the conference events.  It appeared to be a wonderful trip.  President Carol also shared with us a new drink that consisted of sugar, lime and sugarcane rum – a Brazil favorite.  President Carol explained that the Brazilian flag had 27 stars that represented the states and a band across the “world” with a line that read “Order and Progress”.  For the record there were not pictures of any sort of male or female swimsuits.  Carol ended her presentation with a heartfelt thank you to the Club for sending her to Brazil.

Jude then was asked to present an award to Past President Nick as it seems that the Rotary Club of Morro Bay was awarded GOLD status.

The program ended with President Carol introducing her Board and having each of the chairs of the 5 Avenues of Service share abit about what was planned for the upcoming year.  Finally, a Rotary Moment was given from a Rotary Youth Exchange Student who went to France.

CLOSING
New process for the 50/50, Jamie Boucher had the winning ticket and had a chance to draw the white poker chip and win the pot, or draw the black poker chip and have the pot roll over to next week – unfortunately Jamie was a loser and the pot was a winner.
