PROGRAM
John Weiss and Madeline from the Rotaract Club gave a great slide show on the Home Building Program that occurred in August 2014 in Tecate, Mexico.  Members from the SLO, San Diego and Ventura Rotaract Clubs and John & Christine Weiss and Dale Jedkey/Ventura Rotarian all went to Tecate Mexico and with many others built a house for a mother and her 2 children.  John and Madeline had great slides that showed the progress from just a cement slab to a fully constructed house.  In order for the mother and her children to quality, they do volunteer work with El Corazon (a non-profit organization), who partners with Rotary to build.  While there is no electricity or plumbing in the home, it offers a space for the family to live, sleep and cook.  After the home is built, there is a “gifting” ceremony at the end of the day where the family is given the keys to the home as well as a number of housewarming gifts from the builders.  John invited any Rotarian that was interested to participate in the future, he shared the experience will change your life.  Madeline also agreed.  Great Program!!

Madeline also announced that Rotaract will be having Deepa speak at their meeting on Tuesday, April 7th at the Ludwig Center and invited Morro Bay Rotarians to attend if possible.

PROGRAM
Renelee Anderson of the Marine Mammal Center was the program today.  She began with an explanation about how the Marine Mammal Center works and that it is a triage center with many of the animals moving up to the Sausalito area for further care.  She shared a wonderful video about the program and let us know that they have been inundated with animals this year.  They use volunteers almost exclusively with only one paid staff person.  She handed out a small pocket sized flyer that provides contact information for marine mammal rescue as well as pictures so you can identify the kind of animal you are talking about.  She ended the program by telling some stories about how many of the animals look very cute, but are not only strong but hard to handle.

CLOSING
President Nick closed the meeting, see you later – alligator!
