Chuck's Craft Talk
Chuck Clarke had a wonderful uncle who taught him many skills and instilled in him a confidence that he could accomplish whatever he wanted. Chuck won a scholarship to West Point but failed his Army physical because of poor eyesight.

Of course that didn't stop him from an incredible military career that spanned many years and many moves. Chuck and Liz moved 18 times in 30 years and lived abroad in Germany. Chuck served in Vietnam during that conflict. He was a Brigade Commander at Ft. Campbell, KY, which was a force of 3,700 soldiers, and he worried about each and every one and their well being.

Eventually Colonel Clarke served as Chief of the General and Organizational Policy Division for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, where he really learned to think out of the box and to react very quickly to commands from Congressional leaders and even the President of the United States.  Chuck said he was told to round up some task force officials within 48 hours instead of a week, even if he had to use the State Police and other law enforcement folks.

Chuck's favorite job was evaluating missile launches in White Sands NM.  He loved serving his country in the military, although serving in Vietnam was not enjoyable.
