Direct Relief's Disaster Support Update

Alisse Harris is the Public Affairs person for Direct Relief, a Santa Barbara based International Disaster Support organization.  Their goal is to provide support anytime, anywhere and to anyone in need.

Alisse is a Rotarian and previously joined us in 2020 having managed the campaign to raise $40,000 to build Direct Relief’s new facility in Santa Barbara that we learned would have the refrigeration capability and space to be a support agency for the Moderna Vaccine. We’ll get an update on Covid Relief efforts from Alisse, but we will also hear about Direct Relief’s support for women’s health issues worldwide, with a particular emphasis on protecting women through the critical periods of pregnancy and childbirth. The Peacebuilding Chair for Solvang Rotary Club, Alisse grew up in Santa Ynez Valley and received her degree in Law & Society from UCSB. She spent several years as an account executive for the San Francisco Chronicle and became active in the World Affairs Council. When she and her husband moved back to Santa Barbara she physically spend 9 years re-constructing their fixer-upper home. And she was just fun to have visit our group. Please, welcome her back
